The second term has come to an end.  We have had a very busy second term.  We had our Let’s Enjoy Expression performance in October and it was very successful.  Some students entered and participated in the West Japan Private Elementary School Recitation Contest, and the Yuri Gakuin Recitation Contest.  Grade 6 researched and did a presentation in class, and Grade 5 exchanged Chrstmas cards with another school in Serbia.  We look forward to another successful third term.  Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

2学期も終わります。とても忙しい2学期でした。10月にはLEEがあり、とてもすばらしい演技でした。また、西日本英語暗唱大会や百合学院杯英語暗唱大会に参加した子どもたちもいました。今学期、6年生は英語のクラスでプレゼンテーションを行いました。5年生はセルビアの小学校5年生とクリスマスカードの交換をしました。3学期も学んだ英語を実際に使えるようにしていきます。メリークリスマスそして良いお年をお迎えください！

Grade 5 We are excited to announce an English Exchange Program with 5th grade students in Serbia. English is a second language for them as well, and we plan on communicating between schools in English. We believe using English in real situations with real people will greatly increase the students’ motivation for English. At the end of this term we began our first step and students from both schools exchanged Christmas cards. We look forward to making new friends soon and learning more about each others’ culture!

5年生はセルビアの小学校の5年生と英語で交流を始めました。セルビアの小学生にとっても英語は第二外国語です。引き続き、お互いに英語でコミュニケーションを図ることを目的にプログラムを計画しています。英語を実践的に使うことで、英語へのモチベーションも更に向上するのではと期待しています。交流の第一歩としてクリスマスカードを交換しました。外国のお友だちと交流を深め、お互いの文化を学ぶ機会となることを期待しています！

Grade 6

6th grade students selected a country and used the school computers for their research. In groups of 4 they organized their information onto a large poster and gave a presentation in English to their classmates. Everyone worked enthusiastically on their country project and learned many new things about their country of choice. Excellent work everyone!

6年生はグループごとに国を選び、学校のコンピューターを使って、選んだ国の情報を検索・収集しました。それらの情報を整理し、模造紙にまとめた後、皆の前で選んだ国について英語で発表をしました。子どもたちは、このカントリープロジェクトに熱心に取り組み、たくさんの新しい学びを得ました。とてもよく頑張りました！
